Tenuta di Roscetti
Tenuta di Roscetti is one of the principle and most historic estates in Italy. Owned by the Vivarelli Colonna family, it comprises the impressive main house, a fattoria (Chianina cattle & agricultural farm), olive groves and protected forests.
Despite its historic importance, the estate has been quick to acknowledge the importance of the environmental impact of agriculture by farming entirely chemical-free.
Significant investments have been made in solar photovoltaic and a Bio-gas (methane) facility, both contributing to a considerable amount of green energy production.
The fattoria is home to an important breeding herd of Chianina cattle, the largest and one of the most ancient of cattle breeds. Incredibly, the current family trace their ownership of the fattoria back to the 14th Century; one of the oldest working farms in the world.
Approximately ten hectares of the estate are dedicated to Olive groves - some trees planted over 400 years ago. The oil produced is 100% biological.
